이 연구는 대학생 청소년들을 대상으로 오프라인 및 온라인 도움행동의 원인을 알아보고 오프라인과 온라인에서의 원인에 차이가 있는지를 비교한다. 이 연구에서는 주요한 네 가지 시각에서 원인들을 다루는데, 이기적 동기요인으로 도움행동의 손실과 이득요인, 이타적 동기요인으로 감정이입, 규범적 요인으로 개인규범, 그리고 역할정체성 요인으로 도움행위자로서의 역할정체성의 영향을 다룬다. 본 연구에서는 감정이입과 같은 이타적 동기요인의 경우 기존 연구들에서처럼 오프라인 도움행동을 잘 설명할 것이지만 온라인 도움행동에의 영향은 미약할 것이라고 예측한다. 반면 도움시 손실과 이득의 이기적 동기요인은 오프라인보다는 온라인 도움행동에 더 작용할 것이라고 예측한다. 아울러 도움행동에 있어 개인규범과 역할정체성은 오프라인과 온라인 모두에서 중요한 것으로 예측하며 그 영향력을 살펴본다. 서울시 대학생 475명을 대상으로 조사한 결과에 의하면 본 연구의 예측대로 오프라인 도움에는 감정이입이, 온라인 도움행동에는 손실요인이 중요하게 작용했다. 아울러 도움자로서의 역할정체성은 오프라인과 온라인 도움행동 모두에서 중요한 요인이었으며, 특히 온라인 도움행동에서 가장 큰 영향력을 가졌다. 하지만 본 연구의 예측과 달리 개인규범은 오히려 오프라인 및 온라인 도움행동 모두에서 부(-)적으로 작용했다. This study intends to compare the causes of university students' offline and online helping behaviors. This study starts from the assumption that empathy as an altruistic motivating factor cannot explain online helping behavior, while it can explain offline helping behavior as demonstrated by previous studies. However, this study predicts that cost-reward factors such as egoistic motivation can be more applicable to online helping behavior than to offline helping behavior. In addition, this study explores the effects of both personal norms and role-identity on helping behavior. Using data from surveys taken from 475 university students in Seoul, the results show that, as predicted, empathy is more important in offline helping behavior, while cost factors are more important in online helping behavior. In addition, it is found that role identity is an important factor in explaining both offline and online helping behavior. However, personal norms have a negative effect on both offline and online helping behavior.
