이 연구에서는 2012년에 조사한 4차 여성가족패널조사를 이용하여 기혼여성의 관점에서 노인부모/시부모의 거주형태와 경제적 지원의 양상과 관련요인을 탐색하였다. 분석결과, 기혼여성의 부모/시부모의 거주형태, 경제적 지원에 관한 의사결정은 기혼여성이 속한 가족체계의 다양한 관계적 속성과 관련을 맺었다. 기혼여성의 경제적 자원, 부모/시부모와의 상호 돌봄 필요성뿐만 아니라, 기혼여성의 부부관계, 본인/남편의 형제자매 관계도 부모/시부모의 거주형태, 경제적 지원과 관련을 맺었다. 또한 부모/시부모의 거주형태에 따라 경제적 지원에 차이가 발생하였다. 거주형태와 경제적 지원 의사결정은 부모와 시부모 간에 차별적인 방식을 통해 이루어졌다. 부모의 거주형태 결정에서는 기혼여성-부모 간의 정서적 연계가 영향을 미치는 반면, 시부모와의 거주에서는 부모부양 가치관과 자녀양육에 대한 지원 필요성이 상대적으로 높은 영향을 보였다. 결론에서는 부모와 시부모 간의 거주형태, 경제적 지원 관련요인의 차이점을 논의하고 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다. Using the fourth wave of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families (KLoWF), this paper describes living arrangements of elderly parents and parents-in-law and economic support by married women. It also comprehensibly examine 1) predictors for living arrangements of parents and parents-in-law of married women, and 2) predictors for the provision of economic support to their parents and parents-in-law. The living arrangements of parents and parents-in-law and the provision of economic support to them are associated with relational attributes of family system in which married women are involved. Relationships with their spouse, siblings, and siblings-in-law as well as economic resources and mutual interests of married women and their parents are related to the living arrangements of parents / parents-in-law and the provision of economic support. The provision of economic support also depends on living arrangements of elderly parents and parents-in-law. Differences are found between parents and parents-in-law in terms of predictors of living arrangements and economic support. Emotional relationships between married women and their parents play significant roles for the living arrangements for their parents. However, needs for child care and normative values such as willingness to support their parents show significant effects on the living arrangements and economic support for their parents-in-law. It concludes by discussing the differences between parents and parents-in-law and suggests future research agenda.
