본 연구는 질적 연구로서, 양육미혼모의 모성획득 과정을 탐색하기 위해 근거이론 방법을 사용하였다. 대상자는 C 지역에 거주하는 양육미혼모 10명으로 2014년 9월부터 11월까지 심층면접을 시행하였고, 더 이상 새로운 자료가 나오지 않는 포화상태에 이를 때까지 자료수집이 이루어졌다. 대상자의 진술된 자료는 근거이론 연구방법의 절차를 따라 80개의 개념이 나타났고, 21개의 하위범주, 9개의 상위범주로 범주화 하였다. 본 연구의 핵심범주는 ‘두 몫의 강한 엄마 되어가기’로 나타났고, 중심현상은 ‘혼전출산으로 인한 굴곡진 삶’, 인과적 조건은 ‘혼전임신으로 인한 충격과 혼란’이었다. 맥락적 조건은 ‘피할 수 없는 출산선택’이었고, 중재적 상황의 지지요소는 ‘미혼모시설의 도움’과 ‘자조모임의 지지’, 장애요소는 ‘사회적 지원체계 부족’과 ‘사회적 편견’으로 나타났다. 작용/상호작용 전략은 ‘탐색기’, ‘분투기’, ‘공존기’로 나타났고, 결과는 ‘부족하지만 행복한 삶 살아가기’로 ‘미래기대형’, ‘성장형’, ‘나눔형’으로 유형이 구분되었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 양육미혼모의 모성이 획득되는 과정을 이해함으로서 이들 가족의 자립과 자녀의 건강한 성장발달을 도모하는 지원방안을 마련하는데 유용한 자료가 될 것이다. The purpose of this study was to make a qualitative research on the process that single mothers who raised their own children acquired motherhood. The subjects in this study were 10 selected single mothers who resided in the same region. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted from September to November, 2014. The collected qualitative data were analyzed by the grounded-theory methodology, and 80 concepts, 21 subordinate categories and nine superordinate categories were extracted. The selected core category was "becoming strong mothers who could play two different roles." The interactional strategies that they used in the process of motherhood acquisition were classified into three periods: "exploring", "struggling" and "coexistence". The consequence of motherhood acquisition was "leading a happy life though it's not sufficient enough", and the single mothers were divided into three types: "looking forward to the future", "growth-oriented" and "sharing-oriented". The findings of the study are expected to make it easier to devise how to assist the self-reliance of single-mother families and the sound growth and development of their children by having a more perfect understanding of the way for these mothers to acquire motherhood.
