본 연구의 목적은 『화엄경』｢입법계품｣에 나타난 53선지식의 교설내용을 교육적 관점에서 논구한 후 ｢입법계품｣은 어떤 유아교육적 가치를 가지고 있는가를 모색하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 ｢입법계품｣의 구성적 특징을 분석하고 유아교육적 측면에서 그 가치를 탐색하였다. ｢입법계품｣의 유아교육적 가치 분석을 위해 유아교육 및 관련 전문가 30인을 대상으로 델파이 조사를 실시하였으며, 이를 통해 선정된 분석 준거를 활용하여 ｢입법계품｣의 유아교육적 가치에 대하여 종합적으로 논의하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 교육대상은 동자동녀가 있고, 둘째, 교육내용과 교육환경이 명시되어 있으며, 셋째, 학습자와 교육자가 명확히 구분되었으며, 교육자는 자질과 역할을 갖추고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 본 연구 결과를 통해 유아교육의 이론적 범위를 넓히고, 현대 유아교육에 불교의 가르침을 적용·통합하는 데에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다. The purpose of this study was to explore the early childhood educational value inherent in Gaṇḍhavyūha-sūtra(入法界品: Chapter on Entry into the Realm of Reality) based on prior exhaustive discussions on the teaching contents of 53 kalyanamitras (spiritual teachers) in Gaṇḍhavyūha-sūtra of Buddhavatamsaka-sūtra(華嚴經) from an educational standpoint. Therefore, the study examined the theoretical aspects of early childhood education and the structural characteristics of Gaṇḍhavyūha-sūtra. Moreover, the study conducted a Delphi survey of 30 experts in early childhood education and related fields to analyze the early childhood educational value inherent in Gaṇḍhavyūha-sūtra. Based on analytical references selected through the aforesaid process, the study discussed the early childhood educational value comprehensively which was manifested in Gaṇḍhavyūha-sūtra. The results of the analysis show that kumārabhūta․kumãraka were included in those targeted for education, the educational contents and educational environment were specified, and the educators had the qualification and roles with a clear distinction between learners and educators. We expect that results of this study would provide the basis for broadening the theoretical scope of early childhood education and for incorporating the Buddhist teachings into contemporary early childhood education.
