Objectivese: This study aimed to determine factors influencing the social stigma towards tuberculosis patients among college students. Methods: This descriptive correlational study used a convenience sample of 186 college students from four universities in G city and J province who were recruited from March 21 to March 25, 2017. The data were analyzed through SPSS software (version 21.0) using the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The rate of knowledge about tuberculosis was 50.6%. There was no significant correlation between knowledge and social stigma. The factors that influenced social stigma were sex (β=0.14, p=.036), perception (sub-constructs: emotional representations [β=0.38, pqqqlt;.001] and treatment control [β=-0.01, p=.001]). The explanatory power of these variables was 22% (F=10.16, pqqqlt;.001). Conclusions: To reduce social stigma towards tuberculosis patients, the findings suggest that intervention to improve the perception of tuberculosis is necessary and that women should be considered as priority intervention subjects.
