초록
[영문]This study used data from 2593 respondents (47% women and 53% men) working for pay, collected as part of the National Survey of Midlife Development probability sample of English-speaking U.S. residents in 1995. Sociodemographic data, depressive symptoms, current smoking status, and job characteristics were examined. More than one-quarter of workers reported depressive symptoms that would present an underlying obstacle to the success of smoking cessation efforts. Providing self-help tools for coping with emotional distress and utilizing existing mental health resources could enhance the effectiveness of smoking cessation efforts with minimal additional resources.
