본 연구는 저소득 한부모의 복지 서비스 이용 경험을 통한 삶의 변동 과정을 현상학적 연구방법을 통해 심층적으로 이해하였다. 이를 위해 13명의 저소득 한부모 가구주를 연구참여자로 선정하여, 각각의 상황적 맥락에서의 고유한 경험에 주목하였다. 한부모의 복지 서비스 이용 경험은 사례관리 개입 전 삶의 상황과 정체성, 기존의 단편적 복지 서비스 경험, 사례관리를 통한 변동을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 연구결과 한부모의 사례관리 개입 전 삶의 상황과 정체성은 ‘끈 떨어진 연’과 같은 삶이었다. 한부모가 이용한 기존 서비스는 ‘여지를 주지 않는 서비스’’이었으나, 사례관리 서비스는 ‘길을 내는 서비스’로 체험되고 있었다. 즉, 사례관리자의 ‘연날리기’ 과정을 통해, 자신의 삶을 ‘비빌 언덕이 생김’, ‘세상에 눈뜸’, ‘포기하지 않아도 되는 보통가정의 삶’인 ‘날아오르는 연’으로 변동되는 것으로 의미화하고 있었다. 마지막으로 취약한 한부모 가구주를 지원할 수 있는 사례관리 서비스에 대한 함의를 논의하였다. This research in depth understood change process of life through low income single-parents' welfare service use experience through phenomenological research method. For this, the researcher selected 13 low income single-parent householders as research participants, and paid attention to individual experience in each situational context. The researcher investigated single-parents' welfare service use experience focusing on the change through life situation and identity before case management intervention, experience of the existing welfare service, and case management. As the research result, life situation and identity before single-parents' case management intervention was just like a life of ‘a kite with detached string’. The existing service which single-parents used was ‘the service which does not give any choice’, however case management service was experienced as ‘kite flying’, which was ‘creating a way’. Single-parents experienced change of their life through case management service, to a ‘soaring kite’, which ‘has someone to lean on’, ‘opened eyes toward the world’, ‘normal householder's life who does not have to abandon’. Lastly, the researcher discussed the implication of case management service which can support frail single-parent householders.
