본 연구는 조부모에 의해 행해지는 아동 양육 지원이 아동의 모가 가지는 노부모와의 동거에 대한 태도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 더불어, 양육 지원 상황에서 조부모와 아동의 모 간의 관계가 노부모와의 동거 태도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 추가적으로 살펴봄으로써 논의의 심도를 더하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 여성가족패널조사(KLoWF)의 4차년도(2012년) 자료를 이용하였으며 로지스틱 회귀분석을 이용하여 연구를 수행하였다. 연구대상자는 만 6세 이하의 미취학 아동을 가지고 있고, 친정부모와 시부모 중 적어도 한 명 이상의 부모가 생존해 있는 여성으로서 분석 과정에 따라 각각 1,060명, 150명이었다. 연구결과, 첫째, 조부모에 의해 행해지는 아동 양육 지원을 경험한 여성은 그렇지 않은 여성보다 이후 노부모와의 동거에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 더 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 아동 양육 지원을 받고 있는 상황에서 양육 지원 제공자가 친정부모일 경우 여성은 시부모일 경우보다 부모와의 동거에 대해 더 긍정적인 태도를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과들을 통해 노부모 세대와 성인 자녀세대 간에 손자녀 돌봄을 통한 상호 호혜적인 돌봄 관계의 형성이 가능함을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to explore how providing care for grandchildren affects mothers’ attitudes of coresidence with elderly parents. For an in-depth understanding of the effects, this study focuses on relationships between grandparents and mothers. For this study, mothers who had at least one child under 6 years of age and had at least one parent or parent-in-law were selected from the fourth wave of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families(KLoWF) and two groups of mothers(1,060 and 150) were analysed using logistic regression analysis depending on two different analyses respectively. The major results were as follows: First, mothers who experienced providing care for grandchildren given by grandparents were more likely to have positive attitudes of coresidence with elderly parents than mothers who did not experience it. Second, mothers who experienced providing care for grandchildren given by their parents rather than their parents-in-law were more likely to have positive attitudes of coresidence with elderly parents. These results suggest a possibility of forming a reciprocal care relationship between elderly and adult children generations based on providing care for grandchildren.
