본 연구는 신자유주의적 거시환경에서 사회복지 실천가들의 경험과 이에 대한 주관적 의미를 파악하고자 현상학적 방법론을 통해 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 연구참여자는 지역사회복지관, 생활시설, 정신보건기관, 기타 사회복지 유관기관 등에서 5년 이상 근무 경력이 있는 18명의 사회복지사다. 연구 결과 일부 참여자들은 ‘신자유주의 이슈와 실천현장을 연결해서 인식하지 못했고’, 신자유주의 영향을 인식하는 참여자들은 ‘경쟁을 통한 줄세우기’, ‘사람 중심에서 시장중심’, ‘불안정한 일자리’라는 ‘익숙지 않은 신자유주의 이슈’를 경험하였다. 이로 인해 참여자들은 ‘현장과의 접촉점을 상실’하고 ‘A4 사회복지’를 하며, ‘클라이언트 중심이 아닌 기관 존립 위한 실천’, ‘사회복지(사)의 탈지식화’를 경험하여 ‘주객이 전도된 실천현장의 정체성 혼돈과 딜레마’를 경험하였다. 이러한 신자유주의 영향에 대한 대응은 ‘현장 상황에 따르기’를 하거나, 또는 나름의 ‘숨 쉴 구멍 찾기’를 통해 ‘지속가능한 길 모색하기’를 하면서 ‘실천의 재구성-순응과 저항 사이’에서 양가적 적응 모습을 보이지만, 참여자들은 ‘본연의 가치와 원칙 지키기’, ‘연대하여 한목소리 내기’로 돌아가는 것이 사회복지현장과 클라이언트를 지켜내는 방법임을 밝혔다. The purpose of this study is to understand the essence of field experience of social worker in neoliberal macro environment and its subjective meaning. Accordingly, qualitative study was conducted through phenomenological methodology. As for the participants of study, they are 18 social workers with over 5 years of work experience at local social welfare settings. The result showed that participants feel like 'unfamiliar neoliberalism issues' by experiencing 'did not recognize neoliberalism issues' like 'lining up through competition', and 'from people-orientation to smarket-orientation'. Accordingly, participants experienced 'identity confusion and dilemma of practice settings' by experiencing 'didn't have contact point with clients', 'practice for the existence of organization instead of client-orientation', and 'de-intellectualization'. As for the response to such neoliberalism influence, participants they had ambivalent aspects of adaptation of 'reconfiguration-adaptation of practice vs. resistance'.
