[영문]Some of previous studies related to 'Kyung-no-dang' pointed that the most of Kyung-no-dangs nationwide were lack of various programs or professional social workers, and elderly people used it as simple gathering or meeting places to talk, relax, and do some recreational activities, such as, Hwatu, Baduk, or Jang-gi. Kyung-no-dang, however, once called No-in-jung, was developed from 'Sarang-bang' where the community people in traditional society were assembled and shared some knowledge or information, and took a break or enjoyed talking to others. This study emphasized the Sarang-bang function or role of Kyung-no-dang in modern society because of some aspects of Kyung-no-dang; an informal or voluntary group; one of primary groups for meeting, rest, or communications; a room outside of the home during the daytime. The elderly people in previous studies also wanted the Kyung-no-dang as the place like 'Sarang-bang'. It is supported by two researches performed participant observations and interview. In conclusion, it is better that Kyung-no-dang is a meeting room for rest, communication, or staying at night as Sarang-bang
