본 연구는 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지가 회고한 원가족 아버지로부터의 양육태도 경험과 아버지의 양육참여 간의 관계에 아버지의 일-가정 양립 수준 및 양성평등의식이 조절효과를 나타내는지를 살펴보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 서울특별시에 거주하면서 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지 285명을 표집하여 조사하였다. 자료의 분석 결과 연구대상의 일반적 특성 중 아버지가 근무하는 직장에서의 가족친화제도 시행 여부가 양육참여 수준에 유의한 차이를 발생시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 원가족 아버지로부터의 양육태도 경험과 아버지의 양육참여 간의 관계에서 아버지의 일-가정 양립 수준 및 양성평등의식이 유의한 조절효과를 나타내는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 즉 유년기에 자신의 아버지로부터 온정적이고 수용적인 양육태도를 적게 경험한 남성들도 일-가정 양립 및 양성평등의식의 수준이 높다면 자신의 자녀를 양육하는 데 보다 적극적으로 참여할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 일련의 결과를 토대로 아버지들이 성장 과정에서 비롯된 경험적 한계를 넘어서서 자녀 양육에 적극적인 태도를 취하도록 돕는 실제적인 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting paternal involvement in child-rearing and to explore the moderating effects of work-family balance level and gender egalitarianism of fathers on the relationship between the fathers’ experiences of paternal parenting attitudes during childhood and their own paternal involvement. 285 fathers of young children residing in Seoul participated in the study. The results showed that significant differences in paternal involvement depend on the family-friendly policies in their workplace. Second, both work-family balance level and gender egalitarianism of fathers moderated the relationship between the fathers' experiences of paternal parenting attitudes and their paternal involvement in child-rearing. Although, men who experienced less warm and accepting parenting behavior from their own fathers could be more involved in child-rearing if they could control the workplace conditions or if they had a high level of gender egalitarianism. The findings suggest practical ways to encourage involvement in child-rearing by the fathers with young children beyond what they experienced during childhood with their own fathers.
