초록
[영문]Job retention is an important psychosocial rehabilitation goal, butone that is not often achieved. We investigate facilitators of andbarriers to employment retention among homeless individualswith psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses who were re-interviewedeight or more years after participating in a traditionalvocational rehabilitation program. Most program graduates whomaintained employment had secured social support from a varietyof sources; personal motivation was also a critical element in jobretention and compensated in some cases for an absence of socialsupport. Both the availability of social support contacts and personalmotivation influenced likelihood of maintaining sobriety.Physical health problems prevented continued employment forseveral individuals despite social support and desire to work, whilereceipt of disability benefits seemed to reduce work motivation
