본 연구는 자살 시도자를 향한 사회적 낙인 측정을 위한 척도 개발을 목적으로 수행되었다. 자살 낙인은 자살 예방을 위한 주요 과제이지만, 국내에는 이를 체계적으로 파악할 수 있는 척도가 부재하다. 이에 본 연구는 한국 사회의 문화와 가치가 반영된 자살 낙인 척도 개발을 시도하였다. 문헌 연구와 일반인 심층 조사를 바탕으로 항목을 구성하고, 일반 성인남녀 164명을 대상으로 탐색적 항목 추출 작업을 진행하였다. 이를 토대로 일반 성인남녀 510명을 대상으로, 척도의 차원성, 신뢰도, 타당도를 확인하는 작업을 시행하였다. 탐색적 요인 분석 결과, ‘무능력’, ‘기질’, ‘부도덕성’, ‘연민’, ‘이기주의’, ‘찬미’, ‘사회적 배제’의 7가지 차원으로 46개 항목이 최종적으로 추출되었다. 각 차원의 세부 항목들은 모두 유의미한 내적 일치도를 보였고, 기존 척도들과도 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 척도는 한국 사회의 자살 낙인을 체계적으로 측정하는데 유용하게 사용될 것이며, 자살 시도자를 향한 낙인의 구체적인 이해를 통해 한국적 상황에 맞는 맞춤형 낙인 감소 전략 수립에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.;The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure social stigma toward suicidal people. Suicide stigma is an important issue for suicide prevention, but there has been a lack of systematic efforts to measure the stigmatic social perceptions about suicide. This study attempted to develop a suicide stigma scale reflecting the culture and values of Korean society. After compiling exploratory items based on the literature review and an in-depth survey, we first extracted distinctive factors with a survey of 164 adults. Then, based on another survey of 510 adults, we conducted an exploratory factor analysis. The result yielded 7-factors with 46 items :‘Incompetence,’ ‘Personality,’ ‘Immorality,’ ‘Selfishness,’ ‘Glorification,’ ‘Sympathy,’ and ‘Social Exclusion.’ The subscales of each dimension showed statistically significant internal reliabilities. The convergent validity was also confirmed by its significant relationships with the Scale of Public Attitudes about Suicide, Stigma of Suicide Scale, and Stigma of Suicide Attempt. The scale developed in this study can be used to systematically measure suicide stigma in Korean society. Furthermore, a better understanding of suicide stigma reflecting the Korean culture will help us develop effective message strategies to reduce stigma in Korean society.
