This study set out to investigate the factors affecting welfare bureaucrats' attitude toward the poverty. To address these research questions quantitative research methode was used with designed questionnaire. The final sample size was 697 welfare bureaucrats in Gwangju city and Geonnam area, South Korea. Hierarchical regression analysis was used for analysis. As a result, the study reveals that welfare bureaucrats' attitude toward the poverty was maintained conservatively and there are some factors affecting welfare bureaucrats' attitude. Professional variables such as motivation, social work idealism affected positively, but the amount of spent years service delivery and negative impression of clients affected conservatively attitude toward the poverty. Based on these results, the study discussed implications to enhance positively welfare bureaucrats' attitude toward the poverty. 이 연구는 읍면동사무소 사회복지전담공무원의 빈곤에 대한 태도를 검토하고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 광주광역시와 전남지역 읍면동사무소 사회복지전담공무원을 대상으로 설문조사한 결과 회수된 총 697명의 자료를 분석하였으며 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회복지전담공무원의 빈곤에 대한 태도는 개인 간 편차가 있었으나 전반적으로 보수적인 편으로 나타났다. 둘째, 입사동기가 적성이나 사명감일 때, 업무지각이 높을 때 빈곤에 대한 태도는 유의하게 적극적인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직급이 높을수록, 민원인에 대한 부정적 평가가 높을수록 빈곤에 대한 태도는 유의하게 보수적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 직무관련 신념 요인은 빈곤에 대한 태도를 적극적으로 유지시키는데, 반면 빈곤한 사람들과의 접촉경험이 길수록 또 접촉경험이 부정적일수록 빈곤에 대한 태도는 보수적으로 변화되고 있음을 시사한다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 사회복지전담공무원의 빈곤에 대한 태도를 개선시키기 위한 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.
