이 연구는 급증하는 국제자원활동에 대한 개념과 유형을 정리하고 국제자원활동의 동기 및 현지적응과정의 다양한 경험에 대한 탐색적 연구이다. 이를 위해 연구자는 국제개발협력민간협의회(KCOC)에서 파견한 L단체 국제NGO활동가 6명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 분석결과 국제자원활동에 대한 동기로는 「버킷리스트」,「재능 나눔」,「스펙이라는 이름으로」,「부모의 영향」,「사회복지학의 힘」,「우연한 만남」의 6가지 범주가 도출되었고 이 범주들을 〚개인적 동기〛,〚상황적 동기〛로 유형화하였다. 또한 현지적응과정을 분석한 결과 「언어의 장벽」,「환경의 차이」,「문화적 차이」, 「단원과 직원사이의 애매함」,「업무에 대한 딜레마」의 5가지 범주가 도출되었다. 도출된 범주를 유형화하여 현지적응에서의 경험을 〚다름 인정하기〛와 〚딜레마〛로 유형화하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 국제자원활동 활성화에 대한 정책적 제언과 국제자원활동가에 대한 체계적인 관리방안을 마련하는데 있어 미약하게 기여를 할 것이며 제한적으로나마 국제자원활동에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓혔다. 이를 통해 국제자원활동(국제개발협력)연구에 작은 기여를 하였다. The purpose of this study was to explore the definitions and types about International voluntary service, the volunteer of motivation and experience with process of local adjustment. Data from in-depth interviews with 6 INGO’volunteers from KCOC were analyzed. The result as follows: Six categories were conducted. Those were 「Bucket-list」, 「sharing talent」, 「in the name of SPEC」, 「power of social welfare study」, 「parents influence」, 「unexpected meeting」. The researcher subjected six categories as 〚individual motives〛, 〚situational motives〛. Also, The result as follows: Five categories were conducted about process of local adjustment. That was 「barrier of language」, 「environmental differences」, 「cultural differences」, 「vague position」, 「dilemma on task」. The researcher subjected five categories as 〚dilemma〛, 〚recognize the difference〛. Findings of the study will contribute policy directions to establishing management systems for International voluntary service.
