이 연구에서는 2014년 전국 성인 1,214명을 대상으로 수행한 설문조사를 이용하여, 세대간 연대의식의 정도는 어떠한지, 연령대별 세대간 연대의식의 차이는 어디에서 비롯되는지를 탐색하였다. 세대간 연대의식은 1) 청년세대와 노인세대와의 갈등, 2) 노인복지정책, 3) 노인의 기여에 대한 인식 등 3가지 하위영역으로 구성하였다. 분석결과, 청년세대의 정치적 영향력 감소에 대해서는 연령대별로 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. 그러나 노인세대도 청년세대의 문제에 대해 일부 공감하는 태도를 보였다. 노인복지 예산지출, 청년세대 증세와 관련하여 30대와 60, 70세대 간에 의견차이를 보였다. 그러나 모든 세대가 봉사활동, 가족돌봄 활동을 통한 노인의 기여를 전반적으로 높이 평가하고 있다. 회귀분석결과, 효의식이 세대간 연대의식의 변이를 가장 잘 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 정치성향과 사회적 신뢰의식은 주로 노인의 사회경제적 기여에 대한 평가에서 세대간 연대의식과 관련을 맺었다. 한국사회의 낮은 수준의 세대갈등은 효의식, 부모와의 친밀감 등 가족주의적 연대에서 기인하는 것으로 나타났다. 세대간 연대의식에 관한 전망과 향후 연구방향을 논의하였다. Using national survey on 1,214 adults, this study examines the perceptions on intergenerational solidarity between younger and older generations in Korea. It analyzes the levels of intergenerational solidarity by age groups and identifies factors associated with variations in the intergenerational solidarity by age groups. Perceptions on the intergenerational solidarity are examined in three areas: 1) generational conflicts between the young and the elderly, 2) welfare policies for the elderly, 3) elderly people’s contributions to society. Results show that level of intergenerational conflicts is not higher than expected. While differences are found in the area of politics such as elections, older generations are compassionated with younger generations’ concerns on job opportunities. Both generations highly evaluate the elderly’s contributions on family and society. However, both generations show substantial differences in their perceptions on opinions on welfare expenditures and tax policies for supporting the elderly. Regression analysis reveals that filial piety and intimacy with parents are associated with the variations in the intergenerational solidarity in three areas. Trust on society and political ideology are related to perceptions on the elderly’s contributions on society. This study suggests future research agenda on intergenerational solidarity in Korea.
