사회적 관계는 청소년의 현재와 미래에 매우 큰 함의를 갖고 있다. 하지만 한국 청소년들은 입시 준비에 너무 많은 시간을 쓰고 있어 가족이나 친구 등 다양한 사회적 관계에 그리 많은 시간을 쓰지 못하고 있다. 이 연구는 2009년 생활시간조사 자료를 이용하여 청소년들이 사회적 관계를 위해 사용하는 시간을 살펴본다. 본 연구에서는 사회적 관계를 면대면 교제와 매체를 이용한 교제로 구분한다. 분석결과 부모의 사회경제적 지위 변수는 청소년의 교제시간과 별다른 관련이 없지만, 부모의 교제시간은 청소년의 교제시간과 매우 큰 관련이 있다. 이러한 결과는 역할모델, 부모-자녀 간 함께 공유한 시간, 부모의 생활시간 노출 또는 부모의 감시와 제재 등의 관점에서 설명할 수 있다. This study examines the amounts of time that adolescents use on social relationships in Korea. Data come from the Time Use Survey collected by the Statistics Korea in 2009. We devide children’s time on social relationships into ‘face-to-face’ and ‘intermediated’ interactions. Results show that while some indicators of parental socioeconomic status(SES) ‘have no associations but parents’ own amounts of time on social relationships have strong associations with youths’ socializing time. These results are consistent with the role model theory proposing that teenagers shape their preferences and behavioral patterns based on their own parents.
