본 연구는 대학생들의 부모됨 동기, 부모됨 인식, 부모역할 자신감을 확인하고, 부모역할 자신감에 미치는 영향요인을 파악하기 위함이다. 자료수집은 C시에 소재한 대학에 재학 중인 학생 285명을 대상으로 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS/WIN 18.0 Program을 이용하여 기술통계, Pearson’s correlation, 다중회귀분석을 이용하였다. 연구결과 부모됨 동기 중 정서적 동기가 가장 높았고, 부모됨의 대가보다 부모됨의 보상을 더 높게 인지하고 있으며, 부모역할 자신감은 중간수준이었다. 부모역할 자신감의 영향요인은 성별, 혈연유대적 동기, 정서적 동기, 부모됨의 대가였고, 이들이 부모역할 자신감에 미치는 영향력은 41.9%였다. 이 결과를 통해 대학생들의 부모교육 및 부모됨 준비프로그램의 유용한 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다. The purpose of this study was to identify the motivation behind parenthood, perceptions of becoming a parent, confidence about parental roles, and the factors influencing this confidence in university students. The study surveyed 285 students at four universities located in C city. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 18.0. It was found, first, that score for emotional motivation was the highest among parenthood motivation factors, the score for the rewards of parenthood was higher than that of the costs of parenthood, while the score for confidence about parental roles was moderate. Second, significant factors influencing confidence about parental roles were gender, the motivation to build biological family ties, emotional motivation, and the costs of parenthood. These factors explained 41.9% of the score for confidence about parental roles. This study will be used to help formulate preliminary data on parent education as part of a parenthood preperation program for university students.
