본 연구는 식물을 활용한 활동이 유아의 과학적 탐구능력과 환경감수성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 G시에 소재한 E어린이집 5세 A반 20명을 실험집단으로, E어린이집 5세 B반 20명을 통제집단으로 배정하였다. 실험집단에는 식물을 관찰하여 활용한 활동을 적용하였고, 통제집단에는 누리과정의 생활주제에 따른 일상적인 활동을 실시하였다. 연구도구는 조홍자(2015)가 개발한 과학적 탐구능력 검사 도구와 Hungerford(1990)의 연구를 기초로 김은정(2013)이 사용한 환경감수성 도구를 사용하였다. 연구결과 식물을 활용한 활동을 경험한 실험집단이 통제집단에 비해 과학적 탐구능력과 환경감수성에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 식물을 활용한 활동을 유아교육현장에 적용했을 때, 유아의 과학적 탐구능력과 환경감수성에 효과적인 교수․학습방법으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다. This research examines the influence of activities that utilize plants on scientific process skills and environmental sensitivity. This study targeted 20 five-year-old children of childcare center E in city G as an experimental group and 20 five-year-old children of the same childcare center as a control group. The activities utilizing plants were applied to the experimental group, and Nuri curriculum for early childhood education program was applied to the control group. The research methods included tools to assess scientific process skills, developed by Cho(2015), and tools to assess environmental sensitivity, developed by Kim(2013) based upon the studies of Hungerford. The research results indicated that the activities that utilize plants, had a more positive impact on scientific process skills and environmental sensitivity in the experimental group as compared to the control group. These outcomes are significant in that the activities that utilize plants can be used as an effective teaching and learning method, which is conducive to the enhancement of scientific process skills and environmental sensitivity.
