이 연구는 사회통합 요인들에 주목하여 이 요인들이 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향을 한국과 일본을 비교하여 분석하였다. 비교 연구를 통해 한국과 일본에서 삶의 만족의 제고에서 사회통합 요인들의 중요성을 밝히고, 사회통합 요인들의 효과 차이를 통해 두 사회의 특징을 이해하고자 했다. 사회통합 요인들은 사회적 자본과 사회적 포용의 두 차원에서 구성되었다. 한국과 일본에서 2015년에 수집된 qqqlt;아시아의 삶의 태도와 가치 국제비교 조사qqqgt; 자료를 활용한 다중회귀분석의 중요한 결과들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회적 자본의 여러 구성요소들이 한국과 일본에서 유의미한 영향을 미쳤을 뿐만 아니라, 사회적 포용의 구성요소들도 삶의 만족에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 사회적 자본의 구성요소들과 사회적 포용의 구성요소들이 삶의 만족에 미치는 방식이 한국과 일본에서 차이가 있었다. 한국에 비해서 일본에서는 보다 광의의 신뢰인 정부 신뢰와 보다 구조적인 차별 인식이 삶의 만족에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 한국인들에게 삶의 만족에 미치는 사회통합 요인들은 사회적 자본과 사회적 포용의 차원 모두에서 보다 개인적인 활동과 경험, 인식으로 상대적으로 좁혀져 있었다. 일본에 비해서 한국에서는 개인과 가족의 삶은 더 불안정한 한편, 한국의 사회통합역량이 크게 낮기 때문에 경쟁과 성공에 대한 더 강한 가치관을 가지고 있는 한국인들은 삶의 만족을 평가하는 데 있어서 상대적으로 더 가까운 관계와 보다 직접적인 사회적 차별 경험과 인식에 제한되는 경향을 보인다고 할 수 있다. This paper examined, comparing Korea and Japan, whether social integration factors have significant influences on life satisfaction in both countries, and it, furthermore, explained the different effects of some of social integration factors between the two countries. Social integration factors are composed of various components with respect to social capital and social inclusion. Using the comparative data, 'International Comparative Surveys on Lifestyle and Values' from Korea and Japan, collected in 2015, our analysis found, first of all, that various components of social capital and social inclusion affected life satisfaction in both Korea and Japan. Secondly, two components-the first one with respect to social capital and the second one with respect to social inclusion-were associated with life satisfaction only in Japan. Trust in government and evaluation of structural discrimination were strongly influential in Japan, while not in Korea. It means that more broadly defined social integration factors made no influence on Koreans' life satisfaction. Koreans' life satisfaction strongly depends on factors that are more personally and directly related to them. The different social contexts might explain the different results. Compared to Japanese, Koreans live a more strongly competitive and success-oriented life in a less protective society with less social integration capabilities where individuals and families are more unstable.
