신자유주의는 모든 영역에서 불평등을 심화시킴으로써 비판을 받고 있다. 따라서 사람들은 공공성을 제고하는 신자유주의 이후를 준비해야 한다고 말한다. 칼 폴라니의 통찰은 신자유주의를 넘어 거대한 전환을 고민하는 학자들에게 실마리를 제공한다. 이 연구는 폴라니의 내포 개념에 의존해서 공공성을 개념화하고, 그것을 실현하기 위한 방법을 모색하는 데 목적을 둔다. 따라서 이 논문은 먼저 사회에 내포된 경제, 사회로부터 이탈된 경제, 경제에 내포된 사회, 그리고 사회에 다시 내포된 경제의 속성들을 검토한다. 이러한 검토를 통해서 이 논문은 내포를 접합, 포함, 중복발생의 조합으로 정의한다. 그리고 공공성은 자유, 평등, 민주주의, 지속가능성 등의 하위이념들로 구성된 이념으로 개념화된다. 이 논문은 공공성의 실현논리로서 자치, 시장사회화, 탈상품화 등을 제시한다. Neoliberalism is criticized because of its inequality deepening effects. Therefore i t is s aidthat post-neoliberalism heightening the publicness has to be prepared. Karl Polanyi's insightgives a cue to many scholars who reflect on the 'great transformation' beyond neoliberalism. This study intends to conceptualize the publicness in terms of Polanyi's embeddedness andsuggest the ways to actualize it. Thus this article examines the implications of 'economyembedded in society', 'economy dis-embedded from society', 'society embedded in economy'and 'economy re-embedded in society' which were discussed in Polanyi's political economy. Depending on this examination, this article defines embeddedness as a combination ofarticulation, inclusion, and recursion and conceptualizes publicness as an idea which consistsof sub-ideas like liberty, equality, democracy, and sustainability. This article suggestsself-governing, socializing market, and decommodification as principles to actualize thepublicness.
