본 연구에서는 우리나라 경제활동 인구(실업자 제외)를 대상으로 개인의 삶의 질을 결정짓는선행요인으로서 기존 연구에서 중요하게 다루어지고 있었던 경제적 요소인 물리적 환경과 더불어자아존중감 우울감 등과 같은 심리 자본, 사회 자본 등 비경제적 요소 등을 포괄적으로 다루어 이들간의 중요성을 비교･분석해 보고자 하였다. 특히, 본 연구는 분석대상을 일반 가구와 저소득층 가구로구분하여 분석을 시도하였다. 일반 가구와 저소득층 가구는 물리적 특성의 차이뿐만 심리적･정서적차원에서도 차이를 갖고 있으므로 삶의 질 향상 정책을 수립하는데 있어 차별적 접근이 필요하다고판단되었기 때문이다. 뿐만 아니라 본 연구에서는 물리적 삶의 질, 정서적 삶의 질, 총체적 삶의질 등으로 구분하여 삶의 질에 접근하였다. 또한, 삶의 질 수준 및 영향요인 분석을 위해 선행요인과결과요인의 시간차원을 3개년도로 구성하여 분석함으로서 시간 및 환경 변화에 따라 삶의 질 수준이어떻게 다르게 나타나는지를 살펴보았다.삶의 질 영향 요인 및 삶의 질 인식에 대한 집단 간 차이 검증 결과 2006년, 2009년, 2012년 모두건강 상태, 주거 수준, 경제 수준, 자아존중감, 상호호혜성 등에서 저소득층 보다 일반 가구의 인식및 만족도 수준이 통계적으로 유의미하게 높은 것을 알 수 있었고 일반 가구와 저소득층 가구의삶의 질 수준을 결정하는데 있어 가장 중요한 요인은 우울감과 자아존중감과 같은 심리적 요인임을확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 주요 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 행정학･정책학적 시각에서 시민들의삶의 질 향상을 위한 이론적･실무적 함의를 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to probe the main predictors that might affect quality of life(QoL) in Korea. Especially, Drawing upon a social capital theory, this study explores theimportance of physical, emotional, psychological, and subjective aspects of QoL, which isoperationalized as the level of overall satisfaction with one’s life. This study is to enhance aninternal, external, and construct validity through designing a sophisticated research framework,as well as adopting an individual's psychological factors, social capital elements as well asconsidering demographic characteristics and physical conditions. To test and confirm a set ofresearch hypotheses on QoL, the Panel data of the 2012 KoWePS (Korean Welfare Panel Study)was utilized in the empirical analysis, which contains two different methodological procedures. First, we explored and estimated the latent constructs of different types of quality of life usingEFA. Second, we analyzed the relationship among antecedents and QoL using a hierarchicalregression analysis. Specifically, from human resource management and human capitalperspectives, a number of theoretical and policy lessons to boost the level of citizens’ QoLand happiness are offered in the final section.
