본 연구는 청각장애인 부모들이 건청인 자녀들을 특별한 지원 없이 건청인 가정과 동등하게 양육해야 하는 우리사회 현실에서 그들이 겪어야 하는 의사소통 및 언어지도의 부담, 심리사회적 부담, 자녀교육 부담, 그리고 경제적 부담에 대해 알아봄으로써 청각장애인 부모들과 그 자녀들의 어려운 현실을 이해하고, 해결책을 함께 고민해보고자 함에 있다. 이를 위해 실제 자녀양육에 어려움을 겪고 있는 청각장애인 부모를 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하고 그 내용을 토대로 자녀의 언어습득에 대한 불안감과 양육정보에 대한 소외감, 경제적인 궁핍 등이 중요한 어려움을 질적 연구를 통해 파악하였다. 또한 건청인 자녀를 위한 언어지도, 학습지도, 양육지원을 비롯하여 이들 가족을 위한 전문 가족상담사업의 실시 등 구체적인 정책적 제안을 하였다. The study aims to look into parenting burden of deaf parents with hearing children and explore policy implications for them. Deaf parents face special issues and challenges that are unique to their situation in raising their hearing children. They experience communication breakdown, sociopsychological stress and barriers in accessing to their children’s education. Further, they face difficulty with social and cultural norms that differ from the norms within their deaf community in parenting their hearing children. These issues increase the burden of parenting for deaf parents and aggravate financial burden of family. Hence, we carried out qualitative analysis to find out their major burdens and interviewed deaf parents who have difficulty in raising their hearing children. The result suggests that it is necessary to provide support services to support their parenting and ease the burden. And, support services such as tutoring service, care service, spoken language education for young children, and professional counseling support for the family are suggested.
