본 연구에서 우리는 우리 국민의 재분배 선호도에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대하여 실증분석을 수행한다. 실증분석을 수행함에 있어 우리는 한국복지패널(KOWEPS)과 한국노동패널(KLIPS)자료를 이용하였으며, 개인의 인구․사회학적 특성 이외에 개인의 소득수준과 미래 생활수준 전망과 같은 경제적 요인, (소득 불평등도나 또래집단과의 소득 차이 등으로 측정되는) 사회적 동질감, 그리고 복지정책 및 복지수급자에 대한 견해 등 다양한 요인들을 고려하였다. 추정 결과를 보면, 개인의 현재 소득 뿐 아니라 미래 소득 전망도 중요한 요소로 작용하였다. 또 개인이 인식하고 있는 사회의 불평등도 및 준거그룹과의 소득 차이와같은 사회적 동질감, 그리고 빈자나 복지제도에 대한 인식과 같은 비경제적 요인들도 선호에영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. This paper explores the question on what determines individual preference for redistribution in South Korea. We use the Korea Welfare Panel Study and the Korean Labor qqqamp; Income Panel Study. As explanatory variables for individual preference for redistribution, we consider not only economic characteristics, such as current income and future income prospects, but also other factors, such as social homogeneity and citizens’ perception on welfare recipients (measured by income inequality perception and relative income status compared to a reference group). Our results show that not only current income but also future income prospects shape individual preference for redistribution in South Korea. We also find that citizens’ perception on welfare recipients and social homogeneity are also important for explaining individual preference for redistribution.
