급속한 고령화 과정에서 노인에 대한 의료보장과 장기요양보장에 대한 요구가 커지고 있다. 대부분의 선행연구들은 미충족 의료와 미충족 돌봄의 결정요인들에 집중했으나 양자간의 관계에 대해서는 거의 관심을 두지 않았다. 본 연구는 선행연구의 한계를 극복하기 위해 노인의 미충족 돌봄이 미충족 의료에 미치는 영향을 젠더의 관점에서 규명하였다. 연구 결과, 미충족 돌봄 상태에 있는 노인이 미충족 의료를 가질 확률이 높았으며 이는 의료의 대체재로서 돌봄의 역할을 시사한다. 한편, 돌봄이 충족된 남성 노인과 비교시, 미충족 돌봄 상태에 있는 남성 노인과 여성 노인이 모두 미충족 의료를 가질 가능성이 높았다. 특히 여성 노인에 비해 남성 노인이 미충족 의료에 놓일 가능성이 더 높았다. 이는 성별에 따라 다른 돌봄의 태도에서 기인한 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 돌봄과 의료에 대한 관계를 재정비하는 연구와 더불어 미충족 돌봄 상태의 남성 노인에 대한 각별한 대책이 필요하다. This study aimed to explore the association between unmet healthcare needs and unmet long-term care needs among the Korea elderly. We analysed the prevalence of unmet healthcare needs and its relation with unmet long-term care needs using the 2014 Survey of Living Conditions and Welfare Needs of Korean Older Persons. Specifically, we examined the gender interaction effect of unmet long-term care needs on unmet healthcare needs in a logistic regression framework. It is shown that older adults who are female or of socio-economic status have a higher prevalence of unmet healthcare needs. Also, unmet long-term care needs are shown to increase the likelihood of unmet healthcare needs, especially among men. Further research is needed to explore the dynamics of quality of life among the elderly.
