본 연구는 다문화가정 유아의 문해능력 증진을 위한 가족문해 프로그램 모형을 개발하고 그 적용가능성을 탐색해보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 관련 문헌을 고찰하여 유아가 경험해야 하는 3가지 문해경험(환경인쇄물, 책, 쓰기)에 있어서 부모(주양육자)가 이를 지원할 수 있는 4가지 역할(기회제공, 파악, 상호작용, 모델링)을 토의식 부모교육을 통해 배우고 실제로 자녀와 함께 하는 문해활동을 하며 실천해볼 수 있는 가족문해 프로그램 모형을 개발하였다. 이를 적용하기 위해 다문화가정 영유아들이 많이 거주하는 안산시에 소재한 어린이집에 재원하는 다문화가정 유아와 부모(주양육자) 6쌍을 대상으로 주 1회 총 5회에 걸쳐 가족문해 프로그램을 실시하였다. 전체 프로그램의 회기별 평가와 유아를 대상으로 3가지 문해능력(수용․표현어휘능력, 환경인쇄물 읽기능력, 쓰기 발달) 검사를 실시하고 부모(주양육자)를 대상으로 부모 문해행동 설문지(중국어 번역)를 사용하였다. 연구결과, 본 가족문해 프로그램은 다문화가정 부모(주양육자)의 문해행동을 증진하고, 문해 관련 부모(주양육자) 역할수행을 지원하는데 효과적이었으며, 이를 통해 다문화가정 유아들의 문해능력을 증진시킬 수 있는 프로그램임을 제안할 수 있었다. 향후 프로그램의 지속적인 적용과 효과 연구를 기대해볼 수 있다. The purpose of this study was to develop a family literacy program for enhancing literacy ability in multicultural children and to explore its feasibility. After reviewing the relevant literature, a family literacy program was developed to promote the 4 roles of parents (Opportunities, Recognition, Interaction, Modelling) in 3 children's literacy experiences such as books, environmental print, and writing. The subjects in this study were 6 children of multicultural families and 5 parents in Ansan. The family literacy program has been performed once a week for 5 times. To investigate the effects of the program, the entire program was evaluated by session. The Receptive Expressive Vocabulary Test (REVT), The Children's Reading Abilities of Environmental Print Scale (CRAEPS), a writing development task, and the Parent’s Literacy Behavior Rating Scale (PLBRS) were used. The results showed that family literacy served to improve the parents' literacy behavior and children's literacy ability as well. The findings of the study illustrated that the family literacy program for multicultural families was effective for supporting the development of the preschoolers from multicultural families and the parents’ role performance.
