본 연구에서는 영유아교사의 연령, 경력에 따른 성격강점과 생애목표의 차이를 확인하고, 생애목표에 각 변인들이 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울과 경기도 소재 어린이집 및 유치원 교사 209명을 대상으로 설문조사한 결과를 일원분산분석(ANOVA)과 상관관계 및 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 연령에 따른 성격강점과 생애목표의 차이는 크지 않았으나, 경력이 높아질수록 성격강점요인도 높아지는 차이를 보였다. 또 경력이 낮은 집단이 물질목표를 보였고, 높을수록 명예목표와 성장목표, 여가목표가 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 성취지향목표는 용기, 지혜 정적 상관을 지식과 삶지향목표는 인간애, 절제, 경력과 정적 상관을 보여주었다. 셋째, 영유아교사의 용기, 정의의 성격강점이 성취지향목표에, 인간애, 절제, 정의와 경력이 삶지향목표에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구 결과 영유아교사의 생애목표는 경력이 높아질수록 발달과업과 생활경험의 차이로 성취지향에서 삶지향목표로 변화하며, 성격강점도 지혜와 지식, 용기 강점에서 인간애, 절제의 성격강점으로 변화하였다. 이러한 결과는 영유아교사들의 성격강점과 생애목표의 관계와 발달적 차이를 토대로 생애목표설정을 위한 교사교육에 시사점을 제공할 것이다. This study aims to examine the relationship between character strengths and life goals depending on early childhood teachers’ age and career. The subjects of this study are 209 kindergarten teachers who work at daycare centers and kindergartens located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The researcher surveyed them and conducted ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results from this study are as follows. First, the difference between character strengths and life goals based on age was not significant, but as one’s career lengthened, the character strengths factor became more significant, too. Also, it was shown that the lower career group had materialistic goals while the higher career group had goals related to honor, growth and leisure. Second, achievement-oriented goals were positively correlated with courage and knowledge, and life-oriented goals were positively correlated with humanity, temperance and career. Third, the character strengths of courage and justice had a positive effect on achievement-oriented goals; and humanity, temperance and career had a positive effect on life-oriented goals. The results of this study provide implications on the development of a teacher education program focused on the character strengths and life goals of early childhood educators.
