본 연구는 1999년과 2014년 사이의 가구원의 노동시간 변화와 가구 노동소득 불평등 변화에 관해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 한국 노동패널 2차와 17차 자료를 사용하여 분석하였으며, 분석방법으로는 Bourguignon, Ferreira qqqamp; Lustig가 개발한 모의실험(simulation) 방법을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 고학력 집단의 개인 근로시간이 길어지는 경향과 고학력 부부의 합산 근로시간이 증가되고, 저학력 부부의 합산 근로시간이 감소되는 방향으로의 가구 근로시간의 양극화 경향이 포착되었다. 또한 가구원 각각의 근로시간 변화는 가구 노동소득 불평등을 약간 증가시킨 반면, 전체 가구원의 근로시간을 함께 변화시킬 경우, 노동소득 불평등은 더욱 악화되었다. 이를 통해 가구단위 근로시간이 양극화되었으며, 이로 인해 소득 불평등이 심화되었음을 확인하였다. This study aims to estimate the impact of changes in working hours based on the household unit on inequality of household earnings over the last sixteen years. I use simulation methodology which is a combination of parametric and non-parametric procedures developed by Bourguignon, Ferreira, and Lustig (BFL) on Korea Labour and Income Panel Study data. Results show that polarisation of working hours at the individual and household levels have been observed since the late 1990s, indicating that workers with higher educational attainment and married couples in which both partners have more than high school education work longer than their counterparts. These changes in working hours based on the household unit were associated with greater inequality.
