Transcript
In the case of social insurance systems, you can receive benefits if and when you meet certain conditions. Social services, on the other hand, are funded through taxes, which has so far resulted in relatively limited coverage of foreigners. In countries such as Germany and Sweden, access to care and housing services is granted based on residency. Foreigners who are long-term legal residents are naturally included as beneficiaries. Japan also does not impose restrictive conditions on social services for foreigners. In contrast, South Korea's provision of social services to migrants is characterized by eligibility restrictions based on visa status. Marriage migrants and refugees are generally included in the provision of care and housing services, but most other foreign nationals are effectively excluded. Compared to the three countries mentioned earlier, Korea’s level of social service coverage for foreigners is relatively low.
