Professor Park Mi-jin:
A key form of cash assistance for single-parent families is the child-rearing allowance. Single-parent families with incomes at or below 63 percent of the median income are eligible to receive 230,000 won per child. For adolescent single parents, the eligibility threshold is 65 percent of the median income.
As for service provision, eligibility depends on whether the family is officially certified as a single-parent family. This certification applied to families with incomes below 63 percent of the median income; for adolescent single parents, the threshold is 72 percent of the median income. With this certification, single-parent families can access a range of care and other services.
