On October 27, KIHASA and the Korean American Social Work Educators Association signed a research and academic cooperation agreement. Part of the purpose of this agreement is to build a partnership to promote the establishment of a research network between KIHASA and overseas Korean scholars. The signing of the agreement took place in Atlanta, USA, where a KIHASA delegation was viting. During the discussion that followed the signing of the agreement, about 40 Korean social work educators and scholars in the U.S. and the KIHASA delegation explored various ways of cooperation and exchange, such as the participation of KASWEA members in the KIHASA Overseas Scholars Network or the organization of special academic seminars or conferences. Through this agreement, the two institutes look forward to expanding their capacity for global policy research and enhancing the channel through which to learn about global policy changes. The KASWEA is a networking group of Korean Amerian social work educators, dedicated to promoting scholarly exchange between Korea and the USA, mentoring ethnic Korean social work students in advanced degree programs, and collaborating with social work educators, researchers, and practitioners to address the needs of Korean communities in the U.S.
