The purpose of this study is to explore the recovery internship experience of gambling addiction recoverers in the Korea Center on Gambling Problems. For this, a qualitative case study was conducted by in-depth interview with 3 participants. The collected data were analyzed within cases and across cases. The within-case analysis was summarized in ‘strengthening the power of recovery through learning and growth’, ‘happiness found by saving myself and saving others,’ and ‘discovering a new way of life with a talk about gambling.’ The cross-case analysis was summarized in ‘more than two birds in one stone in recovery internship’, ‘a solid recovery force in an environment surrounded by recovery activities’, ‘reinforcing the identity of recoverers’, ‘joy from helping others: satisfaction, happiness, self-efficacy’, ‘the role of a intermediary, facilitator, role-model symbolizing recovery’, ‘competency that is not still enough’, and ‘concerns about unprepared recovery interns.’ This study found that research participants had experienced abundant recovery and inner growth through their internship, and that the internship program was a useful system that utilized the recovery workforce. Based on this, we suggested the need for a phased road-map to cultivate recovery manpower, including education and training to strengthen their professionalism.
본 연구의 목적은 도박중독회복자가 한국도박문제관리센터의 회복자인턴으로 입사하여 어떠한 경험을 하는지 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 회복자인턴 3명을 대상으로 질적사례연구를 수행하여 사례 내 분석과 사례 간 분석을 하였다. 사례 내 분석은 ‘배우고 성장하며 회복의 힘을 단단히 함’, ‘나를 살리고 남을 살리며 찾은 행복감’, ‘도박 이야기를 하며 살아가는 새로운 삶의 방식을 찾게 됨’으로 요약하였다. 사례 간 분석 결과는‘일거다득(一擧多得)인 회복자인턴’, ‘회복 활동에 둘러싸인 환경 속에 견고해진 회복의 힘’, ‘회복자의 정체성 강화’, ‘타인을 돕는 즐거움: 만족감, 행복감, 자기효능감’, ‘중간자, 촉진자, 회복을 상징하는 롤-모델의 역할’, ‘아직은 부족한 역량’, ‘준비되지 않은 회복자인턴에 대한 우려’이다. 본 연구 결과, 도박중독회복자는 회복자인턴 경험을 통해 온전한 회복과 성장을 경험하였고 회복자인턴 제도는 회복자인력을 활용하는 유용한 제도임을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 회복자인턴의 전문성 강화를 위한 체계적인 교육 및 훈련을 비롯하여 전반적 회복자인력 양성을 위한 단계별 로드맵을 마련할 것을 제언하였다.
